A typical four-door sedan usually needs about 55 to 65 linear feet of vinyl on a 60-inch-wide roll for a full exterior wrap. A compact sedan may use less, while a long luxury sedan, large bumpers, a roof with no easy seam, or a beginner's waste allowance can push the order toward 65 to 70 feet.
Use the Vehicle Length as a Cross-Check
A common planning shortcut is roughly three times the vehicle length for the main body, then extra material for bumpers, mirrors, mistakes, and grain direction. Foneso's calculator uses 260 square feet as an early full-sedan baseline. With its 10-to-15-percent waste allowance, that becomes 286 to 299 square feet, or about 57 to 60 linear feet of 60-inch-wide film.
This estimate assumes full-width 60-inch film. Narrow rolls cannot cover a hood, roof, or door the same way, so linear-foot totals are not interchangeable. Foneso's current accent rolls include 1-foot-by-5-foot sizes intended for trim, interior pieces, motorcycles, and smaller exterior sections; a full sedan requires many more square feet.
Measure Panel by Panel for a Better Number
Measure the length and widest point of the hood, roof, trunk, each door, fenders, quarter panels, and bumpers. Add at least 4 to 6 inches to every side of each panel for handling and trimming. Keep the film's pattern or grain direction consistent, especially with carbon-fiber finishes, because rotated pieces may look mismatched.
Curved bumpers and first-time attempts create the most waste. Buying one continuous roll from the same production lot also reduces the risk of a visible color or gloss difference.
Do Not Confuse Accent Wrap With a Full Wrap
One 1-by-5-foot roll covers 5 square feet before trimming. That can be enough for small interior trim or a modest accent, but not a full hood or vehicle. Map the exact panel before deciding how many small rolls to order.
